Kerry's foreign policy playbook
The folks at the Republican National Committee have flagged another noteworthy aspect of Kerry's Meet the Press appearance today. They note that in his appearance today the international man of mystery dropped another clue regarding his modus operandi: "Kerry's foreign policy playbook: Zagat":
NBC’S TIM RUSSERT: “But you have talked to foreign leaders?”
SEN. JOHN KERRY: “Tim, what I said is true. You can go to New York City and be in a restaurant and meet a foreign leader. There are plenty of places to meet people without traveling abroad.” (NBC’s “Meet The Press,” 4/18/04)

KERRY DIDN’T NAME RESTAURANTS BUT …
Could It Be The Four Seasons With Kofi? “[T]he book party that Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter threw with Miramax honchos Harvey Weinstein and Jonathan Burnham for [former Sec. of State Madeline Albright] on Tuesday at the Four Seasons restaurant. On hand were Kofi Annan …” (George Rush and Joanna Molloy, “Tony Soprano Doing Shots?” [New York] Daily Nerws, 9/18/03)
Jacques At “Gallagher”? Or Kofi and Jacques At “Daniel”? “French President Jacques Chirac, known for his appetite for rich and copious meals, will face highly touted nouvelle cuisine at New York’s ‘Daniel’ restaurant Saturday, the establishment said. Chirac, who normally prefers ‘Gallagher,’ one of New York’s famed steak houses, is to lunch with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan Saturday at Daniel.” (“Jacques Chirac To Dine On New French Cuisine In New York,” Agence France Presse, 2/17/99)
KERRY STILL WON’T REVEAL FOREIGN LEADERS HE HEARD FROM …
Kerry Said He’s “Under No Obligation” To Reveal Which Foreign Leaders He Claimed Support Him. SEN. JOHN KERRY: “I’m under no obligation, I would be stupid, if I were to s here and start saying, well so and so told me this, because they have dealings with this Administration. This Administration doesn’t talk about its private conversations and nor will I.” (NBC’s “Meet The Press,” 4/18/04)
MAYBE RESTAURANTS OR MAYBE FOREIGN COUNTRIES … ONLY JOHN KERRY KNOWS
Kerry Listed Countries He Visited, But Not Leaders He Met With. NBC’S KELLY O’DONNELL: “Although Senator Kerry has made no foreign trips since he began campaigning, he says he did visit England and France on personal time right before he made his announcement, and says he’s had some of these conversations with leaders while home in the US.” (NBC’s “Nightly News,” 3/14/04)
Thanks, I needed that.
