The F.B.I has announced the arrests of three individuals in Tampa, one in Chicago and an undisclosed number overseas, in what is apparently the latest crackdown on a terrorist cell. One of those arrested in Tampa was Sami Al-Arian, the Palestinian college professor who gained notoriety after September 11 for applauding the terrorist attacks. The University of South Florida has been trying to dismiss him for some months on account of his terrorist associations. As he was led away in handcuffs, Al-Arian assured reporters that “it’s all about politics.” A press conference on the arrests is scheduled for this afternoon.
