The Dixie Chicks, who performed a glorious Star Spangled Banner at this year’s Super Bowl and whose current hit Traveling Soldier is a tribute to Vietnam war dead, are taking heat for lead singer Natalie Maines’ attack on President Bush on a London stage. This never would have happened back in their Texas bar-band days. I think it’s another illustration of the perils of becoming rich and famous. God forbid it should ever happen to us, right, guys?
Some people, we can trust, will never go Hollywood. For example, I don’t think we’ll ever see George Strait driving around with a “Visualize World Peace” bumper sticker on his pickup.
