Fraud on the Court in Ann Arbor?

April 25, 2003 Posted by John at 7:38 PM

A free-lance writer from Ann Arbor named Chetly Zarko claims that the University of Michigan suppressed a study of the effects of its race-discrimination policies that concluded that "racial preference programs actually stigmatize African-Americans, that individuals from different groups don’t show statistical differences in the way they think about education (their hopes, goals, and aspirations are similar), and that the concept and implementation of diversity could 'benefit from a re-evaluation.'"

This study pre-dated the current litigation; two later studies were apparently commissioned to buttress the University's stand in favor of race discrimination.

I have no idea whether this is either new news or (from a legal standpoint) big news. Given that the case has been tried, briefed and submitted to the Supreme Court, I assume it is at best a historical footnote. But if Kirk Kolbo is reading Power Line this weekend, why don't you drop us an email and let us know what you make of this story.
