The FAA has ordered airlines to increase the assumed per passenger weight average by 10 pounds for the purpose of calculating flight loads. I know I’ve done my part to make this recalibration necessary, and I’m pretty sure the guy crowding me on my right has done his. The New York Times story is “Estimated passenger weight raised in air safety effort.”
