Compare and Contrast

The Associated Press reported on Attorney General Ashcroft’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee today: “Attorney General John Ashcroft holds a new fatwa issued last month entitled ‘The Legal Status of Using Weapons of Mass Destruction Against Infidels’….”
Reuters’ report on the same testimony begins: “U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft holds up a translation of an alleged fatwa by the International Islamic Front For Jihad during a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee.”
Alleged fatwa? As between the United States Department of Justice and the International Islamic Front for Jihad, Reuters isn’t playing favorites.
