Americans, proud friends of Israel

I just saw pollster Frank Luntz on the “Hardball” show on MSNBC. Luntz reported some heartening results from his polling regarding Israel. Almost 75 percent of the Americans Luntz polled agreed with President Bush’s statement from last June that there should be no Palestinian state until the Palestinians engage in sustained efforts to curtail violence against Israel. Almost 75 percent also believe that the Palestinians are not doing enough to curb violence against Israel. Among “Christian Conservatives” the percentage exceeds 80 percent. This key constituency also overwhelmingly believes that key Christian holy sites in the area are best left under the control of Israel. These poll results cause me to think that Rocket Man may be correct when he expresses optimism that President Bush will resist the State Department and refuse to sell out Israel.
