South Africans Protest Bush Visit

There was a protest against President Bush’s visit to South Africa in Johannesburg yesterday. Demonstrators waved hundreds of professionally-printed anti-Bush posters. Here a man walks down a street lined with similar posters.

Maybe it’s just my ignorance of South African politics, but I don’t understand who is paying for this, and why. Is there still a Communist movement in South Africa? Are the “anti-globalization” people following Bush around wherever he goes? Is this funded by African Islamists? Or are there pro-American and anti-American factions in South Africa?
I’m always suspicious of “protest” movements that suddenly spring up with well-organized demonstrations and tens of thousands of dollars worth of posters and brochures. I’d be curious to know whether any of our readers have any insight into where the anti-Bush money in Africa comes from.
