Rolling Stone at West Point

In 1998 Rolling Stone editor Peter Travers assigned reporter David Twersky to write a story on West Point. Lipsky spent a year on campus and wrote a 35,000 article on the academy. But he went back for more — four years more. Now he has written a book about the recently graduated West Point class that was the freshman class when he began his assignment. Twersky had unlimited access at the academy for the four years he spent on assigment and on the book, courtesy of brigade tactical officer Colonel Joe Adamczyk. “We have nothing of which we should be ashamed,” Adamczyk told him. The Jewish weekly Forward has a fascinating glimpse of Twersky and his experience with the cadets: “Rolling Stone reporter gets inside peek at West Point.”
