Revisionist History at CNN

Over the lunch hour I caught a few minutes of CNN. A professional anti-American, Englishman Ian Williams, was being interviewed. He began with the usual pro forma acknowledgement that Saddam was a “brutal tyrant,” and then launched into an impassioned defense of his regime. The topic of the day, of course, was the nuclear intelligence issue.
Williams dismissed the fact that Saddam was a mass murderer (using weapons of mass destruction to kill in bulk) on the ground that “Most of the mass murders happened in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, and at that time, the United States was completely supportive of Saddam.” The CNN interviewer let this amazing claim pass without comment. Apparently she was too young to remember the Gulf War.
I can’t remember anything quite like the current political climate. These people have no standards at all; they really will say absolutely anything.
