Mickey Kaus presciently named today “shoe day” as “the logical last day for the Los Angeles Times to drop its bomb on Arnold Schwarzenegger.” Right on schedule, here it is, ranging over the past 30 years: “Women say Arnold groped, humiliated them.” Andrew Sullivan labels the Times operation “the smear machine.” Kaus himself credits most of the charges and asks: “Should it sink him? Ask me tomorrow, after the prudish shock has worn off and I’ve defined deviancy down for a few more hours….”
DEACON adds: The Democrats have probably done enough over the years to ensure that “prudish shock” will not be widespread.
