Don’t Forget Prop 54

We haven’t commented lately on the fact that Proposition 54, which would bar most forms of data collection by race, and thereby make it more difficult to implement racialist policies, is also on the California ballot today. Unfortunately, public opinion appears to have shifted decisively against Prop. 54. This Field poll, released on Saturday, shows 35% supporting the proposition and 49% opposed, with the remainder undecided. With a huge turnout these numbers might become unreliable, but it’s hard to see how that kind of ground can be made up.
