World weary

Victor Davis Hanson sees the obvious -- an America already growing weary with the thankless task of shouldering, by itself, the burden of aggressively fighting the threat of terrorism at its sources. Hanson predicts that this weariness "will only grow unless administration spokesmen habitually address — weekly, daily, even hourly — such exasperations and counter them by appealing to the innate American sense of idealism and generosity." My fear is that the weariness will grow even if administration spokesmen make such appeals.
