Have They Finally Gone Too Far?

President Bush has nominated Justice Janice Rogers Brown to a seat on the D.C. Court of Appeals. Justice Brown, the daughter of Alabama sharecroppers, was raised in a family that valued hard work and whose motto, she says, was “Don’t snivel.” She has succeeded due to her own merit and indomitable will. Liberals, naturally, will fight to the death to keep her off the federal bench.
This is the racist cartoon that originated at Black Commentator, and which the N.A.A.C.P and People for the American Way included in their written material on Justice Brown:

Judiciary Committee hearings on Justice Brown’s nomination began yesterday; Byron York reports. The Democrats were ordered by People for the American Way and the N.A.A.C.P. to block Brown’s nomination at all costs, so they launched an attack on her that was vicious, although, as York describes it, less than whole-hearted. To his credit, Orrin Hatch displayed a blow-up of the N.A.A.C.P.’s racist cartoon on an easel throughout the hearing, which put the Democrats a bit on the defensive.
But if the past is any guide, the left will succeed once again in blocking the nomination of a minority judicial candidate whose success mocks their mantra that minorities can’t make it in America. When will the American people rise up in anger against these deniers of the American dream? When will the Bush administration finally bestir itself to fight these perverters of our democratic system? Has the left, in its blatant racism, finally gone too far?
Don’t hold your breath. Thomas Sowell writes: “Is there any game plan in the White House or the Justice Department to get the truth out about Justice Janice Rogers Brown or will the lies have a field day? If there is a plan, there is still no sign of it at this eleventh hour.”
Call the White House. Email your Senators. The time to act is now.
