Former Governor Ventura unveiled his official portrait in the glorious rotunda of the State Capitol in St. Paul today. The Star Tribune has the story: “Former Governor Jesse Ventura’s official portrait unveiled.”
The Strib notes: “Los Angeles artist Stephen Cepello painted the portrait. He wrestled under the name Steve Strong in the late 1970s when he was a tag-team partner of Ventura.”
The portrait alludes to the campaign advertisement that is credited with helping propel Ventura into office. The Strib states: “The portrait shows the former governor gazing into the distance with a contemplative look. He stands outdoors, with the state Capitol far in the background. His hand rests on the shoulder of Rodin’s sculpture ‘The Thinker.’ Ventura mimicked the pose in an ad during his campaign for governor.”
