Another one bites the dust

Democratic Senator John Breuax of Louisiana has announced that he will not seek re-election next year. He is the fifth southern Democrat who will quit the Senate. The others are Edwards of North Carolina, Hollings of Sourth Carolina, Miller of Georgia, and Graham of Florida.
In the past year, though, the Democrats have won two state-wide races in Louisiana, so this will probably not be an easy Republican pick-up. On the other hand, Breaux would have been unbeatable. The Democrat who runs in his place will not be.
