Al Qaeda Behind English Bomb Plot

It’s no surprise, of course, but the Sun is reporting that several of the eight individuals arrested in England yesterday morning attended al Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan. On Monday, a computer specialist named Mohammad Momin Khawaja was arrested at the Canadian Foreign Ministry, where he worked, and charged with complicity in the British plot. It appears that he may have been the al Qaeda supervisor who coordinated the British terrorists; he had recently traveled to both Pakistan and England. A senior British source said:

What has happened in Canada is highly significant. Inquiries are on-going all over the world and we expect other developments. There has been a strong element of international organisation between suspects using electronic communications.

The British suspects have apparently been under an elaborate system of surveillance for months. They were caught with a ton of ammonium nitrate, enough for a massive truck bomb.
