Some Personal Notes

For the last month, the Northern Alliance Radio Network has been broadcasting on Saturday afternoons over local radio station 1280 AM, the Patriot. We’re on from 12 to 3; for more information, see the Northern Alliance site. The show is, actually, pretty darned good. Last Saturday’s was one of the best, as, in addition to our regular Week In Review segment, we had Steve Hayward, author of The Age of Reagan and The Real Jimmy Carter, and Myrna Blyth, author of Spin Sisters, for an hour apiece. The guests were great.
So far, our show has been heard only in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, we’ll be filling in for Hugh Hewitt on his nationally broadcast show. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to participate, as I am leaving town in the morning on business for the next few weeks. I’ll post when I can, but the Trunk and Deacon will mostly be holding the fort.
The Patriot says they will have an internet stream operational some time in June, so the show should be available world-wide soon.
In my youth I never really had a nickname, unless you count “nerd,” “doofus,” etc. Lately, however, grown men have taken to calling me “Rocket Man” with a perfectly straight face. My youngest daughter, age seven, has picked up on this, in part by listening to the radio show, and drew the picture below in honor of the nickname:

It’s a nice complement, I think, to the icon on the left.
I’ll be back in a couple of weeks, and will try to post when I can in the meantime.
