We cannot spare this man — he fights

David Frum explains why Donald Rumsfeld must remain Secretary of Defense. The essence of Frum’s case is that the abuses at Abu Ghraib are in no way Rumsfeld’s fault; Rumsfeld departure would not appease the Arabs or the Europeans; and, as Lincoln said of Grant, “we cannot spare this man — he fights.”
