Mission to Managua

From his testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and his dalliance with the Vietcong in Paris in 1971, to his senatorial embrace of Danny Ortega in 1985, right up to the moment of his vote authorizing the use of force against Saddam Hussein, a thread runs through John Kerry’s long career as a public man.
Hugh Hewitt usefully recalls Kerry’s 1985 mission to Managua in his Standard Online column: “One weekend in April, a long time ago…” Now that Kerry has retracted his endorsement of the war against Saddam Hussein, may we give Kerry credit for his consistency? Hugh concludes: “Wrong about Vietnam. Wrong about the Sandinistas. Wrong about the Soviets. Wrong about Iraq. The wrong man with the wrong ideas at the wrong time.”
