“Kill the Jews wherever they are found”

I crossed paths with attorney Lynne Stewart last fall after her indictment on terrorism-related charges. I wrote about the experience in “Face to face with Lynne Stewart.” The government’s case against Stewart and her codefendants is based largely on transcripts of wiretapped or otherwise recorded conversations. The trial has accordingly been lacking in testimonial flair while it has droned on in federal court in Manhattan for the past three months.
The trial has nevertheless been punctuated by occasional moments of undeniable drama. Today’s New York Times story by Julia Preston on the government’s evidence against Stewart’s paralegal Ahmed Abdel Sattar captures a few such moments and is not to be missed: “Tracing militants on a Staten Island phone.”
