The Strib Goes to the Source

Today’s Minneapolis Star Tribune recaps reaction to Thursday’s night debate. The Strib starts out by quoting part of my live-blog of the debate. I scored the debate like a boxing match (10-point must system), and awarded the event to Bush by a four-round margin, but the Strib quoted a round that I gave to Kerry. Still, it’s good to see that the local paper knows where to go for news.
The Strib’s reporter, Bob von Sternberg, closes with this observation, which I haven’t seen elsewhere:

Gallup’s polling shows that “winning” a debate doesn’t inexorably lead to a win on Election Day. Except for Clinton in 1996, in the past five elections, the winner of the first debate went on to lose in November.
