Big doings down under

Australians will decide tomorrow whether to re-elect Coalition candidate (and “coalition of the willing” member) John Howard. Howard’s opponent is Labor candidate Mark Latham. He would be no friend of a Bush administration and no backer of our efforts in Iraq. Latham is supported by John Kerry’s sister, who lives in Australia.
Polls show that the Coaltion has an edge, according to the The Australian. However, things are close enough that they could break Labor’s way.
Chrenkoff plans an 18 hour day of working for Howard and his party. He promises a report and analysis on Saturday night U.S. time. Chrenkoff declines to predict the outcome except to say that “the result tomorrow might surprise many.”
