Who Do You Have Contempt For?

Speaking for myself, this group of antiwar activists in St. Paul, and others like them:

This “apologise for America” movement is a project of the far-left “Fellowship of Reconciliation.” The idea is for “ordinary Americans”–that is to say, kooks and Communist dupes–to take pictures of themselves apologizing to the Iraqi people for liberating them from the Baathists. The “Fellowship” collects these photos and sends them to Iraq, where they will be distributed by media outlets anxious to undermine our efforts there.
Frankly, I find it hard to imagine how Iraqis will react to this scheme. Probably it will confirm their impression that America is a rather weird place. I do think I can predict how our troops will respond, however. I think they’ll share my contempt.
