The Times Fights to the End

No one has worked harder to elect John Kerry than the New York Times. How far the Times has been willing to go to support its candidate–and, perhaps, how far the Times’ editors are the victims of wishful thinking–is revealed by two corrections in today’s paper:

Because of an editing error, a front-page article yesterday about the final Sunday of campaigning before the presidential election misstated the party affiliation of people who said that President Bush’s job approval rating, and the number of Americans who believe the nation was heading in the right direction, were dangerously low for an incumbent. They were Democrats.
An article yesterday describing the results of the most recent New York Times/CBS News poll reversed the results for one question. Fifty percent of poll respondents said George W. Bush legitimately won the 2000 election, and 45 percent said he did not.

And some people worry about whether bloggers get their facts straight!
