V for Vee

I grew up down the block from pop singer Bobby Vee in Fargo, North Dakota. In 1968 I caught up with him in the audience at the Minnesota State Fair’s free pavillion, where we were both taking in the Fabulous Flippers. He couldn’t have been nicer; Bobby might be one of the most decent guys ever to survive 45 years in show business as a star. Tomorrow’s Star Tribune carries a good profile of Bobby that hits all the highlights of a long career that had many of them: “The other Bobby: Golden oldie Bobby Vee more than a musical footnote.”
