If at first you don’t succeed

From the invaluable Ratherbiased.com, via the New York Times, comes a report that “60 Minutes Wednesday” may be facing the axe. Leslie Moonves, the chairman of CBS, stated in a telephone interview that Dan Rather is expected to continue his career at CBS on the Wednesday edition of “60 Minutes.” But Moonves added the ominous words “provided the show continues.” He went on to note that the show is “not exactly tearing it up in the ratings. . . .” Jeff Fager, the show’s new executive producer, is well aware that his program is in jeopardy, and has said, “We really need to give Les a reason to want it to stay around.” Like a juicy scandal involving Republicans?
