Mob rule at SIU

Boston Globe columnist Cathy Young picks up on the case of Southern Illinois University history Professor Jonathan Bean: “A left-wing witch hunt on campus.” Young invokes the memory of Joe McCarthy to describe the outrage in progress at SIU. When I wrote about events at SIU last week, I thought the more apt comparison was to the 1837 lynching of Elijah Lovejoy, late of southern Illinois. (Courtesy of RealClearPolitics.)
