Coming attractions, mostly

Regrettably, we’re a little late getting to this announcement, but you can still catch the rebroadcast of the Dershowitz-Chomsky debate on C-SPAN 2 tonight. Little Trunk has watched the video and reports that Professor Dershowitz convincingly prevails over the vile Professor Chomsky. Jennifer Moire writes from C-SPAN:

C-SPAN2’S Book TV will air “Israel and Palestine After Disengagement,” a debate between Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz and MIT linguistics professor Noam Chomsky on Sunday at 7:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. ET

Alan Dershowitz, author of The Case for Peace: How the Arab-Israeli Conflict Can Be Resolved, and Noam Chomsky, most recently the co-author of Imperial Ambitions: Conversations on the Post-9/11 World, debate how to end the Israel/Palestinian conflict. The broadcast also includes Q & A with the audience. The event was hosted by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics and was taped on Tuesday, November 29. The pair first debated in 1973 and have met several times since then.

Alan Dershowitz, professor of law at Harvard Law School, is the author of many books, including The Case for Israel, Why Terrorism Works, and Chutzpah. Noam Chomsky, professor of linguistics and philosophy at MIT, is the author of Hegemony or Survival, Middle East Illusions, and Fateful Triangle: The United States, Israel and the Palestinians.

Jennifer invites readers to visit the Book TV Web site at here. Checking the Book TV site, I see that this week’s In Depth discussion at noon and midnight today is with John Updike, in my view the finest living American writer, destined for the pantheon.
