Consistent with what all the other polls are showing, the AP/Ipsos poll shows a five-point rebound in President Bush’s approval rating. Most of the gain comes from groups that should be supporters of the President. It will be interesting to see whether all those articles we’ve been reading for the last four months about the President’s plummeting poll numbers will be equalled by coverage of his recovery. It’s not an insignificant question: the President’s decline was undoubtedly aggravated by the constant presence of talking heads cheering it on, while his rebound will be dampened, to an unknowable degree, by the relatively sparse news coverage it will engender.
