Tumbling to Alwaleed

Yesterday in “Nuts!” we noted the $20 million contributions of Alwaleed bin Talal bin AbdulAziz Alsaud to Harvard and Georgetown for programs intended to promote the image of Islam in the United States. Today a reader who proudly attended Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs points out that bin Talal is a prominent member of the school’s advisory board. The reader points out that the Maxwell School is ranked first in the U.S. News survey of public affairs graduate schools and comments: “Given the name of the school and its professed ideals, I need not comment on the irony of his Board membership there.” For more on the prince and his grand strategy, see the illuminating FrontPage column by Rachel Ehrenfeld and Alyssa Lappen: “Buying Fox News.”
