Vietnam v. Iraq

Reader Donald Morrissey recommends the Foreign Affairs essay by former Wisconsin Congressman and Nixon administration Secretary of Defense Melvin Laird: “Iraq: Learning the lessons of Vietnam.” For the past week I’ve been carrying around Frederick Kagan’s excellent essay on the subject and reading it as I could. I recommend Kagan’s Policy Review essay: “Iraq is not Vietnam.” See also Kagan’s article in the current Weekly Standard: “Fighting to win.”
