The Kennedy slime machine’s last gasp?

Drudge reports that Ted Kennedy’s office is behind a last ditch effort to stop Judge Alito’s confirmation using a 2004 recusal request. According to Drudge, one H. Gerard Heimbecker is accusing Alito “of not properly listing the Heimbecker v. 555 Associates case in his Senate questionnaire” as a case in which he declined to recuse himself. Drudge says that Heimbecker requested that the entire Third Circuit recuse itself. And he quotes one Senate staffer as saying, “the individual who filed this complaint is clearly a serial litigant.”
Under the facts as Drudge presents them, it’s difficult to see how Kennedy can get any mileage from this oversight. Indeed, it’s difficult to see why any minimally decent person would try to.
UPDATE: Ankle Biting Pundit has more on Mr. Heimbecker. This guy certainly doesn’t rise to the level of Anita Hill, whatever that level was. In David Brock’s parlance, Heimbecker seems more than a little bit nutty.
