Straight-talker or flip-flopper

Senator John McCain prides himself on his “straight talk.” However, Donald Lambro of the Washington Times detects some substantial flip-flopping by the Senator on the fundamental issues of tax cuts and repealing Roe v. Wade.
Lambro concludes that McCain “has two years of Senate votes to prove to his skeptics he really believes what he says.” Personally, I don’t think two years of pre-presidential election Senate votes would be sufficient to demonstrate that McCain is reliably conservative on those issues as to which he previously has not taken conservative positions.
