Governator Redux?

Blog of the Week Wizbang Politics notes current polling in which Arnold Schwarzenegger leads, albeit narrowly, his Democratic rivals. Arnold has had a tough term, and the voters didn’t support his key initiatives. And, as everyone keeps telling us, the voters are mad at Republicans. Yet, as we’ve often said, the Republicans’ ace in the hole is that they get to run against Democrats, and it seems that even in California, one of the nation’s most Democratic states, the voters don’t necessarily want to replace Arnold with a Democrat.

Sure, Arnold is a Governor, not a Congressman. But I suspect that we’ll see the same dynamic repeated in many races this year.
