A modest question

Today the Washington Post opens its editorial page to publish a column of pure propaganda by Ismail Haniyeh, the Palestinian Authority Prime Minister and Hamas leader. By its founding document, Hamas is of course dedicated to the destruction of Israel. Hints of Haniyeh’s true goal peak through the column, with its sarcastic reference to Israel as a “legitimate” state:

I hope that Americans will give careful and well-informed thought to root causes and historical realities, in which case I think they will question why a supposedly “legitimate” state such as Israel has had to conduct decades of war against a subject refugee population without ever achieving its goals.

Why on earth would the Post willingly serve as the vehicle for such terrorist propaganda? (Thanks to RealClearPolitics.)
