How Peaceful Can You Get?

In a classic of moonbattery, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Betty Williams says she wants to assassinate President Bush:

NOBEL peace laureate Betty Williams displayed a flash of her feisty Irish spirit yesterday, lashing out at US President George W.Bush during a speech to hundreds of schoolchildren.

“I have a very hard time with this word ‘non-violence’, because I don’t believe that I am non-violent,” said Ms Williams, 64.

“Right now, I would love to kill George Bush.” Her young audience at the Brisbane City Hall clapped and cheered.

Nice audience, too. Actually, Ms. Williams is by no means the only bloodthirsty Peace Prize winner, a circumstance the committee doesn’t seem to consider odd.

What do you think the chances are that this story is true?

“We went to a hospital where there were 200 children; they were beautiful, all of them, but they had cancers that the doctors couldn’t even recognise. From the first Gulf War, the mothers’ wombs were infected.

“As I was leaving the hospital, I said to the doctor, ‘How many of these babies do you think are going to live?’

“He looked me straight in the eye and said, ‘None, not one’. They needed five different kinds of medication to treat the cancers that the children had, and the embargoes laid on by the United States and the United Nations only allowed them three.”

Who would allow a crackpot like this to address a group of school children? In this case, something called the “Earth Dialogues forum” in Brisbane, Australia.

Just a quick note to defend the honour (and sanity) of people in Brisbane, Australia – my hometown! The audience (and its reaction) is broadly reflective of the type of function (Earth Dialogues forum) rather than the specific geographic location (hey, it could have happened anywhere; even in Minnesota). You might also note that the keynote speaker at the forum was none other than Gorbie himself, who has undergone a reverse-ripening over the past decade, going from red to green, and now doing an Al Gore-Lite international act on global warming (see here).
