Cautiously pessimistic, Part Two

Don Lambro, in the Washington Times, on the GOP’s improving 2006 election prospects. Lambro suggests, as I did yesterday, that the improvement is probably due in large part to voter recognition that the economy is doing better than they thought, a recognition spurred by the decrease in gasoline prices. He cites a Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Poll in which 58 percent said the quality of life for most people in their area was either “excellent” (11 percent) or “good” (47 percent), followed by 29 percent who said “only fair” and 12 percent who said “poor.”

Meanwhile, the latest Rasmussen survey has the president’s approval rating at 47 percent.
