A younger, smarter version of myself must have visited me in dreams last night because when I woke up this morning I realized, with horror that (1) Iran is not an Arab nation and (2) Malachi “Buck” Mulligan did not say “it seems history is to blame.” An Irishman would not have blamed “history” for England’s treatment of his country. The statement was made by an Englishman (research tells me his name was Haines) in the first chapter of Ulysses, which Mulligan dominates.
