Hollywood confidential

Lloyd Billingsley at FrontPageMagazine pays tribute to Roy Brewer, who died last month. Brewer was a union leader who, along with his actor friend Ronald Reagan, led the fight against the Communist Party in Hollywood.
Through a parade of movies, etc. about blacklisting, Hollywood has largely succeeded in whitewashing its flirtation, and worse, with Stalinism. Billingsley’s piece, and his book Hollywood Party: How Communism Seduced the American Film Industry in the 1930s and 1940s, remind us of that sorry footnote to the Cold War, and of the limited collective political discernment of the Tinseltown artist community.
