I don’t have time to comment on these two interesting items this morning and can only recommend them. Take a look at John Keegan’s column on Israel’s looming second round with Hezbollah. I wonder how much of an obstacle Hezbollah’s Preatorian guard (a/k/a UNIFIL) is to the resumption of hostilities by Israel against Hezbollah. Toward the end of his column, Keegan refers to the 1967 Liberty incident. Michael Oren’s research on the incident alters the received account to which Keegan alludes.
At Jewish Current Issues Rick Richman has an interesting item on the gathering storm involving Iran. I recommend Rick’s report: “The Yuval Steinmetz master class.”
