I just got off the phone with Brian McClung, Governor Pawlenty’s press secretary. The governor’s entourage is at Croatian Hall in the governor’s home town of South St. Paul, the last stop on the governor’s 12-city tour through the state. Brian conveyed the great enthusiasm they have seen greeting the governor throughout the state from the first stop at midnight last night in Alexandria or Willmar (if I remember correctly) through his homecoming tonight in South St. Paul.
Brian thinks that the get out the vote effort in the Sixth District is key and is running strong. He said that based on the polling and internals he has seen in the last day, the race is tied and moving in the governor’s direction in a toxic environment for Republicans. He anticipates that the race will be decided by a margin of one or two percent and urges Minnesota voters to act accordingly.
