Scott Wolland writes to alert us that Jessica Clements is to appear on the Oprah Winfrey show that will be broadcast today. Jessica was serving in Iraq when she sustained a horrific brain injury resulting from an IED. Today on the broadcasat (taped last week) Jessica meets for the first time the doctor who operated on her after the attack.
We followed the course of Jessica’s recovery in many posts, starting with the superb series by Maura Lerner that ran in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. We noted Maura Lerner’s most recent article this past February with links to her earlier articles here. Scott Wolland urges our readers to watch if they can: “I think people will be amazed by the ‘before’ and ‘after.'”
