Buffaloed in Buffalo

The University of Maryland men are out of the NCAA tournament. The well-coached sharpshooters from Butler took out the Terps 62-59. Butler’s three-point shooting (12 for 26), Maryland’s free-throw shooting (7 for 15), and a horrendous call against D.J. Strawberry at game’s end (it’s not a charge when you make contact coming down with a pass under your basket) told the tale.
This was a tough loss in a winnable game, but not an embarrassing one. Butler has defeated the likes of Notre Dame, Indiana, and Tennessee this year.
When the bitterness of this game fades, the 2006-07 Terps will be remembered for their great stretch run (seven straight conference wins to close out the year) and for putting the Maryland men back on the college basketball map.
