At least 32 people are dead at Virginia Tech University as the result, apparently, of two shooting sprees by the same lone gunman. The two incidents reportedly occurred some time apart. Is it premature to wonder why the campus was not secured after the first killing spree?
Tragedies of this nature always seem to spur calls for gun control. We don’t know how the killer obtained his gun. But John Lucas, of the Virginia-based firm where I used to practice law, tells Glenn Reynolds that Virginia Tech “is a gun-free zone,” at least (as Glenn notes) for those who follow the law.
