Addition by subtraction

Of all the changes occurring at the Minneapolis Star Tribune, none is likely to be healthier than the departure of Jim Boyd, deputy editor of the editorial page. Boyd is taking a buy-out. The editorial page staff will be trimmed from 12.5 to 7.5. Two writers, as yet unnamed, reportedly will be let go.
It’s not likely that the editorial stance of the paper will change much in Boyd’s absence. But its intellectual honesty quotient surely will.
