La creme de la Prem — 2007

Each year, a dozen or so readers eagerly await the announcement of my all English Premier League team. Wait no longer, here it is:
David James — Portsmouth
Jamie Carragher — Liverpool
Nemania Vidic — Manchester Utd
Ricardo Carvalho — Chelsea
Michael Essien — Chelsea
Cesc Fabregas — Arsenal
Steven Gerrard — Liverpool
Mikel Arteta — Everton
Christiano Ronaldo — Manchester Utd
Dimitar Berbatov — Tottenham
Didier Drogba — Chelsea
Player of the Year — Ronaldo followed by Drogba
Everton player of the Year — Arteta followed by Joleon Lescott
It was a good year for non-English players, who claim eight of the eleven slots. In fact, the Iberian peninsula produced more members of my select team than England did. Of course, a number of English players had decent claims. That list includes Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Joey Barton, Nicky Shorey, David Bentley, Darren Bent, and Lescott.
