Root causes

Dean Barnett is one of the thoughtful writers who helps our friend Hugh Hewitt hold down the fort. Last week Dean wrote me that he was working on a piece for the Standard considering why there’s no right wing Yearly Kos or even a right wing Kos. I gave him the two thoughts that leapt to my mind, but both Dean's and Glenn Reynolds's analyses (Dean quotes Glenn as well as me) dig deeper than I did. Dean's article in the current issue of the Standard is "The lopsided netroots."

I take issue only with Dean's description of the three of us who write for Power Line as "wizened." Aged? Antiquated? Experienced? Getting on? Grizzled? Hoary? Mature? Not young? Obsolete? Patriarchal? Seasoned? Senior? Superannuated? Tired? Venerable? Maybe, but definitely not wizened, at least not yet. Where are those Standard fact-checkers when you need them?

JOHN adds: Dictionary.com defines "wizened" as "withered; shriveled." I can't speak for Paul or Scott, but I'm pretty sure I haven't shriveled appreciably in recent years.

PAUL adds: One look at our pictures on this site will show we're not "wizened," or weren't when the pictures were taken. Dean probably meant "wise."
