A glutton for punishment

Dan Rather has filed a $70 million lawsuit against CBS, its parent company Viacom, and three of his former bosses. The suit stems from “CBS’ intentional mishandling” of the aftermath of Rather’s discredited story about President Bush’s time in the Texas Air National Guard. Ignoring the “straight face” test, Rather alleges that CBS and its executives of made him a “scapegoat” in an attempt to “pacify the White House.”
This suit, for as long as it survives, should serve to reinforce Rather’s status as a laughingstock.
