Question of the week

At Dipnote — the State Department blog — Sean McCormack has posted the question of the week: “Should the U.S. engage Hamas in the peace process between the Israelis and the Palestinians?” The Washington Times has taken note of the question in an article by Nicholas Kralev on Dipnote’s “question of the week” feature. Some might wonder whether State is hitting rock bottom with its raising of this knotty question, and McCormack has now posted an update denying that the question intimates a possible change in American policy.
I think a far more useful question would address State’s current venture in establishing the framework for a Palestinian state. Given the events of the past week, the question of the week more properly is: “Would a Palestinian state support terrorism?” You know, like the Palestinian Authority.
